NEET Aspirant's 'Torn OMR Sheet' Plea Dismissed, Allahabad HC Says Candidate Used 'Forged Documents'

The Allahabad High Court dismissed Aayushi Patel's petition concerning the NEET 2024 exam results, finding that she submitted forged documents.

NEET Controversy: The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition filed by NEET aspirant Aayushi Patel on Tuesday, after finding discrepancies in her claims regarding a torn OMR answer sheet. Patel alleged that the National Testing Agency (NTA) did not declare her result because of a torn OMR sheet. She claimed to have scored 715 marks based on the answer key but received a result with a different application number showing only 335 marks. These allegations surfaced in a viral video on social media amid controversies surrounding "irregularities" in the 2024 NEET-UG exam.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra shared the viral video and endorsed her assertions of discrepancies in exam results. Gandhi also called on the government to abandon its negligent approach and address the alleged instances of paper leaks and irregularities.

However, following a court order, the NTA presented the original OMR sheet, which revealed no signs of damage. Terming it a case of "forged documents," the court dismissed the petition and declared that the NTA is entitled to pursue legal action.

"The petitioner has submitted forged documents, and in this scenario, the court cannot restrain the NTA from initiating legal proceedings against the student," the court said.

The NTA confirmed its intention to pursue legal action against Patel during the proceedings. Patel's advocate subsequently requested to withdraw the petition, which the court accepted.

Notably, the NEET 2024 UG results have been in controversy over the past few days. Aayushi Patel from Lucknow, who appeared for the NEET exam, recently filed a petition in the High Court claiming discrepancies in her results. She alleged that initially, her result was not uploaded on the website, and later, she received an email stating that her OMR (answer sheet) was torn. Aayushi alleged that her OMR sheet was intentionally torn.

However, after the NTA refuted her allegations, Aayushi claimed in another video that her result is now available with an application number different from the one mentioned on her admit card.

Aayushi Patel's first viral video was shared by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who endorsed her assertions of discrepancies in exam results. Gandhi also called on the government to abandon its negligent approach and address the alleged instances of paper leaks and irregularities.
