JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility: Know About Revised Criteria For Appearing In Exam This Year

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria Details: Now that the JEE Main results are out candidates interested in applying for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) can start registering for JEE Advanced Exams. This year due to the pandemic, slight modification has been made to the eligibility criteria.

JEE Advanced 2020: The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the results for JEE Mains 2020 exams which were conducted between September 1 and September 6 yesterday, September 11. Students can check their scores on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in by entering their JEE Main credentials - application number and password/ date of birth. Those candidates interested in applying for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) will have to appear for JEE Advanced which will take place on September 27 this year. Only the top 2.5 lakh scorers in JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exams. The registration for the computer-based test will begin from today, September 12. ALSO READ| JEE Main Results Declared At jeemain.nta.nic.in; 24 Score 100 Percentile; Direct Link, How To Check Scorecard Eligibility The minimum academic qualification required for JEE Advanced 2020 is that the candidate must have passed in the final Class 12 examination or equivalent qualifying examination with at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST, and PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile in board examinations. This year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, relaxation has been given to students. Those candidates who have qualified in the JEE Main exams will now be considered eligible irrespective of the class 12 scores. Other criteria include
  • Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. Paper of JEE (Main) 2020.
  • A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2019 or 2020 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. However, if the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declares the results for the academic year 2017-18 after June 2018, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their Class XII exam in 2018 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020.
  • Those candidates who have attempted JEE Main /JEE Advanced in 2018 or earlier, will not be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020
  • Those who have taken admission in institutes other than IIT in 2019 and who satisfy other eligibility criteria can appear for JEE Advanced 2020
  • A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
  • Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
The JEE Main cut off for this year is as follows: Common Rank List (CRL)- 90.3765335 Economically Weaker Section (EWS)- 70.2435518 Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL)- 72.8887969 Scheduled Caste (SC)- 50.1760245 Scheduled Tribe (ST)- 39.0696101 People with Disability (PwD)- 0.0618524 A total of 24 students have scored 100 percentile score this year, as per a report in Indian Express.
