IIT Kanpur Conducts JEE Advanced 2025 Today: Key Details For Aspirants

IIT Kanpur conducts JEE Advanced 2025 today, with strict dress code and guidelines. Two papers will test comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025 today, May 18. This highly competitive exam, the gateway to the prestigious IITs, will be held in two shifts, with Paper 1 from 9 am to 12 noon and Paper 2 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The exam centres will open as early as 7 am, and candidates are encouraged to arrive well in advance to complete necessary formalities.

Exam Day Essentials

Candidates must carry a printed copy of their downloaded JEE Advanced 2025 admit card, along with a valid original photo identity proof. Acceptable IDs include Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving License. Only those presenting both a valid admit card and photo ID will be permitted to take the examination.

Dress Code and Banned Items

To ensure a smooth and secure testing environment, strict dress code and item restrictions have been enforced. Candidates should wear simple clothing, avoiding any jewelry like rings, bracelets, earrings, nose pins, or religious items such as charms or taweez. Only sandals or chappals are allowed, as shoes and closed footwear are prohibited. Caps and jackets are also not allowed inside the exam hall.

Electronic gadgets, including mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, and headphones, are strictly prohibited, along with wallets, goggles, handbags, and any kind of printed, blank, or handwritten paper. Calculators, electronic pens, and log tables are also banned.

Exam Hall Rules

Candidates must remain in the examination hall for the full duration of each paper and cannot leave before 12 pm for Paper 1 and 5.30 pm for Paper 2. Attendance in both papers is mandatory, as only the responses of candidates who complete both papers will be evaluated.

The JEE Advanced 2025 will feature questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning, and analytical ability across three sections: physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Some questions may carry negative marking for incorrect responses, adding to the challenge.

Important Note for Latecomers

Candidates arriving at the exam centre after the start of either Paper 1 or Paper 2 will not be allowed to take the exam. The main entrance will close at 9 am for Paper 1 and 2.30 pm for Paper 2, with no exceptions.

With approximately 2 lakh students expected to take the exam this year, IIT Kanpur and other IITs will announce the final seat tally after the results and before the counseling process. Last year, the IITs collectively offered 17,740 seats, up from 17,385 in 2023.
