DU Cut-Offs To Be Higher This Year; Here’s How CBSE Results Will Impact University Admissions This Year

With many students attaining over 90 percent in class 12 CBSE Board exam, the cut-offs for University admissions may remain high.

New Delhi: The CBSE declared the much-awaited class 12 board exam results on Monday. This year a large proportion of students have scored above 90 percent. According to the data, as many as 243 students scored above 90% in CBSE class 12th examination, while 42 students scored more than 95%. The overall pass percentage has also increased from 5.38 percent since 2019. Around 92.15 percent of girl students passed the examination compared to 86.19 percent boys. Reports say that Delhi University may see higher cut-offs this year. "The next step for students will be to update marks. There is an increase in students scoring above 95 percent and 90 percent marks, and we will see which streams they are from and how that will impact the cut-offs,” said Shobha Bagai, dean (admissions) of Delhi University in a report by PTI. She added, “Once we get the data on the portal, only then analysis can happen. We have been waiting for the revised academic calendar from the UGC," she said. "For us, it will make a difference, especially for science courses since NEET and JEE exams are scheduled in September." ALSO READ|CBSE 12th Results 2020: Over 200 Students Score More Than 90% Marks | Check Major Takeaways From CBSE Results The cut-offs last year too was high and in many colleges first, cut-offs were almost near 98 percent such as  Hindu College where cut off for Physics honours in 2019 was 98.3 percent and DCAC had 98.50 percent for BA (Honours) in Journalism. The registration process for Delhi University is already underway and will continue till July 18.
