Class-9 Annual English Exam In Assam's Barpeta Cancelled After Paper Leak Allegations

In Assam's Barpeta district, the class 9 English annual exam was cancelled due to a question paper leak on social media. The new date for the exam will be announced later.

The class 9 English annual exam in Assam’s Barpeta district, scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled following a question paper leaked on social media, officials said, PTI reported.

Barpeta inspector of schools Ratul Kumar Das issued an order to all the school heads in the district and informed them about the cancellation of the exam.

In the order, Das said, "I would like to inform you that the English paper of class 9 annual examination which was scheduled to be held on March 20 is hereby postponed due to unavoidable circumstances."

"We suspect that the question paper was circulated on social media. We are currently verifying all claims. To ensure fairness, we have decided to cancel the examination," he added.

A new date for the exam will be announced later.

Meanwhile, an official from the district-level internal examination committee said they became aware about the paper leak on Wednesday evening.

Class-12 English Board Exam Cancelled In HP

Earlier this month, the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education cancelled the Class 12 English examination for the current session due to the possibility of a paper leak.

The breach was detected at Government Senior Secondary School, Chowari, District Chamba, where the teachers by mistake opened the English question paper of Class 12 in place of Class 10.

The schedule of the exam stated that the English paper of Class 10 was on March 7 while the English paper of Class 12 was on March 8.

An official notification issued by the Board said that an anonymous complaint was received on March 7, alleging that the Class 12 English question paper had been opened before the scheduled date and time.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the Board investigated the matter and verified the claim using video evidence from the 'Exam Mitra App'. This app, introduced by the Board first time during this examination, monitors and enhances examination security.

According to news agency PTI, Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Secretary Vishal Sharma on Friday said the organisation took a serious view of the matter. Exercising the powers granted under Section 2.1.2 of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education Examination Regulations, 1993 (amended up to July 2017), the Board's chairman ordered the immediate cancellation of the Class 12 English examination at all examination centres esatblished in the entire state.
