CBSE Board Exams 2024 Begins Amid Farmer's Protest; Board Advises Utilsing Metro To Reach Exam Centre

CBSE Board Exam 2024 for Class 10 and 12 has begun today amidst ongoing farmers' protests.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun the CBSE Board Exam 2024 today, February 15. The Class 10 board examination is set to run from February 15 to March 13, 2024, while the Class 12 board examination will take place from February 15 to April 2, 2024. This year, over 39 lakh candidates are expected to participate in the examinations across 26 countries, including India and abroad. The exams will begin at 10:30 am on all scheduled days, with the majority of papers concluding at 1:30 pm, though some may finish earlier at 12:30 pm. Students are strongly advised to arrive at their respective exam centers at least 30 to 45 minutes before the start time.

On Wednesday, the CBSE issued a notice advising students taking the board exams to account for traffic constraints in Delhi and leave home earlier to ensure punctual arrival at their examination centers.

Presently, traffic restrictions are enforced in the national capital due to the ongoing farmers' "Delhi Chalo" march.

Classes 10 and 12 board exams are slated to begin from Thursday. This year, over 39 lakh students from India and 26 other countries are expected to participate.

In Delhi alone, more than 5.8 lakh students will sit for the exams across 877 centers.

"As the examination starts at 10.30 am, hence, all the students have been directed to reach their examination centres on or before 10 am," the advisory read.

Referring to the prevailing conditions in Delhi, the advisory highlighted potential traffic challenges that could lead to delays in reaching the examination centers.

"Hence, all the students are advised to leave their homes early so that they can reach well on time as per instructions issued by the CBSE. It is advisable to use metro services to reach the examination centres which are playing smoothly," it read.

Additionally, the advisory urged all students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) nationwide and in other countries to strategize their journeys to arrive at the examination centers by 10 am. This recommendation takes into account local conditions, traffic, weather conditions, distance, etc. It emphasized that students will only be permitted to enter the centers until 10 am and not thereafter.

"All schools are requested to help and guide the parents and students. Students are once again advised to visit their examination centres in advance and make a plan for their travel so that they can arrive before or on time on all examination days," it added.
