WATCH: Water Cannon Used On BJP Workers Protesting Against Delhi CM Kejriwal

The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd as they tried to breach the barricade and reach the AAP office. Several protesters, including Sachdeva, were detained by the police.

The Delhi unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday staged a protest near Aam Aadmi Party’s office in the national capital demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleging failure of his government on “all the fronts”. The party’s state president Virendra Sachdeva charged that the government’s failure on all the fronts was evident during the flood faced by the city after 45 years. He blamed Kejriwal for corruption, inaction, and anarchy under his government.

"Kejriwal has lost the moral right to remain on the post of chief minister since Delhi has been plunged into corruption, inaction and anarchy under his government. If he does not step down, people will remove him in 2025 assembly polls," Sachdeva said while addressing the protestors.

Cornering the Kejriwal government over the floods, Sachdeva said, “After 45 years, there has been such a severe flood in Delhi. The flood has hurt the heart of Delhi. This is the result of Arvind Kejriwal's misrule. The Delhi government did not get the Yamuna cleaned for two years. Keeping in mind the flood, no work was done before the rains. The nodal officer of the Apex Committee asked for time for the meeting, but the CM did not have time for it.”

The protestors, who gathered near ITO, were stopped by the police  at a barricade while trying to reach the AAP headquarters on DDU Marg.

The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd as they tried to breach the barricade and reach the AAP office. Several protesters, including Sachdeva, were detained by the police.

Due to the protest, the traffic was briefly halted at ITO after the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg was closed causing inconvenience to the commuters.

Aman Singh, a resident of east Delhi, said it took him around one hour to reach the New Delhi Railway Station.

"I was coming from Preet Vihar and going to the railway station to drop someone off. Later, I found that the DDU Marg was closed. I took a right turn and went to the railway station via Delhi Gate," Singh told news agency PTI.
