2 Dead After Speeding Car Hits Cyclist, Crashes Into Roadside Hut In West Delhi

The car was allegedly driven by a 19-year-old who has been arrested, and legal proceedings following the incident are underway.

Two people lost their lives, and three others were injured after a speeding car hit a cyclist and then crashed into a makeshift hut on the roadside in West Delhi on Thursday, police said.

The accident took place around 3.30 am on Pankha Road, which was reported via a PCR call to the Janakpuri police station, the police added. The car was allegedly driven by a 19-year-old who has been arrested, and legal proceedings following the incident are underway, an officer said.

After the report of the accident, emergency services and the local police quickly reached the spot and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital. Further, police noted that two individuals succumbed to injuries despite efforts, while three others are still under medical treatment, according to a report by the Indian Express.

Police are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the driver was speeding or under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Car Flipped Five Times In Bihar's Rohtas

Similarly, on May 25, four passengers walked away unscathed after their car flipped five times in a freak accident on a highway in Bihar's Rohtas district on Sunday morning.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV, providing a dramatic view of the crash. "The Maruti Suzuki Alto first collided with a speeding truck and then rolled over to the side of the road," the footage revealed.

In a separate incident in March, a Delhi University student was hit and killed by a speeding car while delivering newspapers in Rohini early in the morning.

Following the investigation, two individuals, 26-year-old Saurabh Gupta and his 41-year-old uncle Pankaj Gupta, were arrested. Authorities allege the pair tried to cover up their involvement by getting the car repaired in Panipat. CCTV footage proved instrumental in tracking and identifying the suspects, according to the police.

The victim, Rishal Singh, was a Budh Vihar resident pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree through Delhi University’s School of Open Learning. He worked as a newspaper vendor, earning around Rs 12,000 a month to support his family and fund his education.
