Bengal Recruitment Scam: SC Allows 'Untainted' Teachers To Continue Jobs For Now
A bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the relief is only for the teachers whose appointments were "untainted".

The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed the teachers whose appointments have been cancelled due to the irregularities in the recruitment process to continue until the fresh selection process is completed.
A bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the relief is only for the teachers whose appointments were "untainted".
The top court also refused to grant relief to continue service to the teaching staff falling under Group C and D, stating that the number of "tainted" candidates in those categories are higher.
The top court also directed the West Bengal government and the WB Staff Selection Commission to issue advertisements for fresh recruitment of assistant teachers by May 31 and to complete the entire process by December 31.
The top court took its decision citing that the students undergoing studies should not suffer on account of the order passed by the court following the irregularities in the entire recruitment process in 2016.
The court said this order comes at a condition that the West Bengal government and the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) will complete the fresh recruitment process for the posts of Assistant Teachers for Classes 9 to 12 by December 31.
The court directed the two parties to publish the advertisements for the fresh recruitment process by May 31 and file an affidavit.
