UP Woman Drags, Abuses Auto Driver In Mirzapur Over 'Obscene Remark' — Video

A video of a woman assaulting an auto driver in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur, reportedly after a dispute over fare has gone viral on social media. The woman claimed that the driver used a derogatory remark against her, after which she retaliated.

In the viral video, the woman is seen trying to drag the driver out of the auto from his seat. The woman continued abuse and thrashing the driver along even though he pledged with both hands saying that he didn't say anything.

She later shared the video on her Instagram account, and after it gained widespread attention, the auto driver filed a police complaint against her, seeking justice. However, Both parties have presented conflicting accounts of the incident. The auto driver alleged that the woman began assaulting him when he asked her to pay the fare.

"When I dropped them off and asked for the fare, they refused, claiming they were students," the auto driver said. "When I continued insisting, one of them grabbed my collar, handed her phone to her sister, and told her to start recording. I then told them I didn’t want the fare. I never even touched them," he added.

He expressed feeling humiliated after the video went viral online and decided to report the matter to the police. "They posted the video on Instagram, tarnishing my reputation. The humiliation was so severe I couldn't even imagine begging for a living. I need justice," he said, mentioning he also sustained chest injuries during the incident.

Woman Alleges Auto Driver Of Using Obscene Remark

Responding to the charges in a video statement she alleged that the man had used obscene remarks against her. The woman added that when she asked about the obscene comment, the driver denied the claim at first but later he accepted. "That's why I thrashed him. Since then, I have been getting threatening calls. As a result, I uploaded the video from my personal ID," she further said. 

According to NDTV report, Mirzapur police stated that they have registered a case and further probe is going on.
