Two Dead After Contact With High-Tension Wire In Bulandshahr

Two people tragically lost their lives after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line in the Khurja area of Bulandshahr district.

Two people tragically lost their lives after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line in the Khurja area of Bulandshahr district, police said on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as 46-year-old Sumit, the owner of a roadside dhaba, and 44-year-old Harish, who worked at the same establishment.

According to officials, the fatal incident took place on Friday night near the eatery, which is located close to a busy highway. Investigations suggest that a live high-tension wire was hanging dangerously low near the dhaba premises. The two men reportedly came into accidental contact with the exposed wire while attending to routine work outside the eatery. They were both electrocuted on the spot and died.

Chennai Auto Driver Electrocuted After Live Wire Snaps

In another incident, a 46-year-old auto driver died after being electrocuted by a high-tension power line near the Kilambakkam bus terminus in Chennai on Tuesday evening.

The victim, Meghanathan Prabhu, had just finished work when he noticed oil stains on his shirt and hands. He went to a nearby public tap to wash up. While doing so, a high-voltage wire from a nearby transformer suddenly snapped and fell on him. He was electrocuted on the spot and died instantly.

Police said the power cable snapped without warning. The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has not yet explained how the incident happened. Officials have said that a preliminary inquiry is underway.

This incident comes just a month after a 17-year-old school student in Tiruvottiyur died after stepping on an exposed underground electric cable.

The Kilambakkam police have registered a case of unnatural death. Meghanathan is survived by his wife and a 17-year-old son who is in college.
