11 Feared Dead As Van Falls Into Well In Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur: Video

A van with 13 occupants fell into a well in Mandsaur district, Madhya Pradesh. 10 people died, including a brave jawan who saved lives. 4 people were rescued and hospitalised.

Several persons are feared dead after a van with 13 occupants fell into a well in the Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. According to news agency PTI, quoting official reports, the incident occurred at Kachariya village under Narayangarh police station limits, and a rescue operation involving NDRF and other units is underway.

Deputy CM Jagdish Devda, who rushed to the spot, said that the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and fell into a well. There were 13 persons, including two children, in the van. Four have been rescued and hospitalised.

Giving details about the incident, Manoj Kumar Singh, DIG, Mandsaur, said that ten people have died and four have been rescued alive. He further added that the rescue operation will conclude in half an hour.

"There were 13 passengers inside the vehicle. We have received information that 9 people have lost their lives among them. A brave jawan from the village who had done the rescue operation and saved lives, has also died in the process. Total 10 people have died and 4 have been rescued alive...rescue operation will conclude in half an hour," Singh said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Prima facie, the van driver lost control of the wheel after the vehicle hit a bike and fell into the well. The bike rider was also killed. A rescue operation, involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and personnel of other units, is underway.
