‘In Relationship For 12 Years’: Tej Pratap Yadav Goes Public With Love Amid Divorce With Wife

Tej Pratap Yadav publicly announced his 12-year relationship with Anushka Yadav on social media. This follows his marriage to Aishwarya Rai in 2018, which ended in separation and a pending divorce.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday made a public revelation about his personal life, stating that he has been in a relationship with a woman named Anushka Yadav for the past 12 years. Taking to social media, Tej Pratap shared a photo of the two, accompanied by a note.

“I am Tej Pratap Yadav and the person seen with me in this picture is Anushka Yadav. We have known and loved each other for the past 12 years. We have been in a relationship for the last 12 years. I have been wanting to share this with you all for a long time, but did not know how to. So today, through this post, I am sharing what’s in my heart. I hope you all will understand me,” he wrote in Hindi on his verified Facebook account.

Tej Pratap Yadav, son of former Bihar Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, was earlier married to Aishwarya Rai in 2018. However, the marriage hit a rough patch within months, and the couple separated amid disputes. Their divorce case is currently pending in court.

Tej Pratap's Holi Controversies

Known for frequently courting controversy, Tej Pratap was fined earlier this year for violating traffic rules during Holi celebrations in Patna. He was spotted riding a scooty without a helmet. Investigations also revealed that the scooty’s insurance and pollution certificates had expired. The vehicle was driven from Rabri Devi’s residence, past Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence, to its destination.

The Patna Traffic Police issued a challan of ₹4,000 — ₹1,000 for riding without a helmet, ₹1,000 for an expired pollution certificate, and ₹2,000 for insurance violations, news agency IANS reported. Authorities reiterated that traffic laws apply equally to all citizens, irrespective of their political background.

In another Holi-related incident, a police constable named Deepak Kumar, who was assigned to Tej Pratap Yadav’s security detail, was caught on video dancing in uniform on the RJD leader’s instructions. The video, which went viral on social media, showed Tej Pratap telling him from the stage, “Hey constable, hey Deepak, we will play a song, you have to dance. If you don’t, you will be suspended. Don’t mind, it’s Holi.”

Following the incident, Deepak Kumar was removed from duty and sent to the police lines for questioning. Another constable has since been deployed in his place. The episode drew sharp criticism from the ruling Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who accused Tej Pratap of showing disregard for uniformed personnel.

Tej Pratap had participated in the “Kurta faad Holi” celebrations in Patna, a tradition involving the tearing of one’s upper garment after it is smeared with colours.
