An order from the Commissionerate Lucknow said that the restrictions had been imposed from Thursday in view of festivals like Kartik Purnima, Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheed Diwas, Black Day and Christmas.
The Lucknow administration on Wednesday implemented Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) till January 12, 2025.
An order from the Commissionerate Lucknow said that the restrictions had been imposed from Thursday (November 14) in view of festivals like Kartik Purnima, Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheed Diwas, Black Day and Christmas.

"Due to upcoming significant festivals like Kartik Purnima, Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheed Diwas, Black Day, Christmas, and various entrance exams in November, and considering the possibility of protests by various political parties and farmers' organizations, in order to maintain peace and law and order, Section 163 of the Indian Penal Code (formerly Section 144 of the CrPC) will be enforced in Lucknow from 14.11.2024," the order read.
The order said that the purpose of implementing section 163 is to maintain peace and order and to ensure full compliance with the law. It further stated that various festivals and several entrance examinations will be organized in Lucknow from November to January.
As per the government order, there will be a ban on holding dharna or protest at any place other than Eco Garden without permission. There will be a complete ban on shooting with drones in the no-flying zone around the CM's residence, government offices, assembly except Eco Garden in Lucknow.
