Sanjay Raut, Supriya Sule Praise Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Days After Naxalites Surrender
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has praised Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis after 11 Naxals surrendered, acknowledging the development efforts in Gadchiroli.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday praised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after months of verbal attack, days after 11 Naxals surrendered before the CM in Gadchiroli.
"I have seen the visuals of 10 Naxalites, surrendering their arms and accepting the Indian constitution, so if someone does that it must be appreciated," Raut said while speaking to reporters on Friday.
"If a district like Gadchiroli is developed it is good for the whole state and if it becomes the steel city of Maharashtra, nothing is better than that. If this all has been done after the initiative of Devendra Fadnavis and no one is appreciating this, it will not be the right thing," he said.
"We always appreciate good initiatives. We have criticised PM Modi also, but when he does something good, we do appreciate him for all the good things he does," Raut added.
The Maoists who surrendered were carrying a collective bounty of Rs 1.03 crore and were involved in launching attacks on security personnel.
Among those who surrendered, the most notable one was Dandkaranya Zonal Committee Member Vimla Chandra Sidam alias Tarakka who had been involved in the Naxalism movement for the last 38 years.
Fadnavis said the government has started the process to make Gadchrioli the "first district" by eliminating the dominance of Maoists.
Baramati MP Supriya Sule also praised Fadnavis while criticising other leaders of the Mahayuti. "It appeared as though only Fadnavis was active in the state government," she said. “Most ministers in the Mahayuti government are yet to take charge. For the last month, it seemed only Fadnavis was in action mode,” Sule added.
"Gadchiroli Police almost eradicated Naxal activities in Gadchiroli district. North Gadchiroli is now free of Maoist activities, and south Gadchiroli will soon become free from Naxals," the CM said.
