RJD's Tej Pratap Yadav Targets Nitish Kumar Over BJP MP Pradeep Singh's 'Hindu Banna Hoga' Remark

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has become the target of the Opposition, RJD, over BJP MP Pradeep Singh's controversial statement about Hindus.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is in the crosshairs of the Opposition over a remark by an MP from the BJP, the JD-U's ally in the state and the Centre. Singh said at a public meeting, "Araria mein rehna hai to Hindu banna hoga [To live in Araria, you must become a Hindu]." Now, RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has slammed Nitish Kumar over the provocative statement made by BJP MP Pradeep Kumar Singh.

Tej Pratap Yadav accused Nitish Kumar of providing extra security to the MP despite his inflammatory comments. Tej Pratap Yadav took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, October 23, condemning the statement and expressing his anger.

'Those Who Cast An Evil Eye On Muslims...': Tej Pratap Yadav

In his X post, Tej Pratap Yadav wrote, "Today, a BJP MP made an inflammatory statement to spoil the atmosphere in Bihar and Nitish Kumar provided additional security to that MP. Everyone has contributed to the soil of this country and to its freedom. I assure everyone that as long as I am alive, I will stand firmly against anyone who tries to throw Bihar into the fire of communalism and will destroy those who cast an evil eye on Muslims."

BJP MP Pradeep Kumar Singh Given Y-Category Security

Amid the viral spread of Pradeep Kumar Singh's controversial statement on social media, his security has been upgraded. The BJP MP from Araria has been granted Y-category security. Alongside him, security for three other leaders has also been increased. Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav and Minister Neeraj Kumar have been provided Y-plus security, while MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh has been given Y-category security.

Pradeep Kumar Singh had said, "What's the shame in calling oneself Hindu? If you want to live in Araria, you must become a Hindu." This sparked massive outrage. Before Tej Pratap Yadav, Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia Pappu Yadav had also voiced his opposition on Tuesday. Other RJD leaders have joined in condemning the statement as well.

Armed Man Caught Entering Pradeep Kumar Singh's Home

On Tuesday, a man was caught with an illegal weapon at the residence of Pradeep Kumar Singh. He was going to the MP with a complaint, posing as a visitor. When a security guard became suspicious of the visitor's behaviour, he was searched. During the search, a pistol was recovered from the man. The suspect was identified as Abdullah, a resident of Bangama.
