North India May Face Intense Chill As Temperatures Likely To Drop Further. Check Forecast

Dense fog enveloped the national capital and reduced visibility to zero for nine-hour stretch, the longest spell of the season, on Saturday.

Many Flights Affected Due To Fog

Over 160 flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were hit, with more than 155 delays reported on Sunday. Especially flights not complying with CAT III standards have been affected. Delhi Airport said in an advisory issued on X, "Landing and take-off are continuing, flights not complying with CAT III may be affected. Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for flight updates." Train services were affected at New Delhi Railway Station as many trains are running late from their scheduled time.

Chances Of Storm And Snowfall In Himachal, Jammu And Kashmir

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of storm and snowfall along with heavy rain at different places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir on January 5 and 6. Dense fog will persist in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar on January 6 during the night and morning.

Weather Forecast For Next Week

The minimum temperature in the plains of North West India is likely to increase by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the next three days and then fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius. There will be no significant change in minimum temperature in Maharashtra region and Gujarat during the next 24 hours. However, there is a possibility of a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius after that.

North Punjab and Haryana are likely to experience cold wave as well as light rain on January 6. Northeast states including Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal will be covered with dense fog on January 6. Cold wave as well as dense fog has been predicted in Uttar Pradesh on January 7. Apart from this, cold day conditions will persist in Himachal Pradesh. Dense fog will continue in many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on January 8. Rain is expected in Tamil Nadu and surrounding areas on January 9 and 10.
