The Gautam Buddha Nagar administration has ordered closing of schools till 8th standard due to the ongoing coldwave conditions.

In view of the order, all schools in Noida and Greater Noida will remain closed from Friday (December 3) until further notice. The order comes as North India, especially parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed the impact of the cold wave.

"Following the instructions provided by the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar, all board-recognized schools (CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and others) operating in Gautam Buddha Nagar, including nursery to class 8, will remain closed until further orders due to severe cold and fog. This order is effective immediately and must be strictly complied with," Rahul Panwar, District Education Officer of the Gautam Buddha Nagar said in a statement.

The order applies to all the schools of UP Board, CBSE, ICSE and other boards. The decision has been taken to protect children from cold waves and chilly winds.

The temperature in Delhi was 10°C around 7 am on Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the capital are likely to remain around 18°C and 9° Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain may occur from on January 4 and 5, due to which the cold may intensify further. The maximum temperature may drop to 15° Celsius.
