Noida: Massive Traffic Snarl At DND Ahead Of Farmers' Protest — Watch

Farmers' protest march from Noida to Delhi led to major traffic congestion on the DND flyway and Kalindi Kunj area.

Massive traffic snarl was witnessed at the DND flyway in Uttar Pradesh's Noida as farmers called for a protest march on Monday. The march is scheduled to start at 12 noon from Noida's Maha Maya flyover but traffic congestion has already begun, forcing commuters to wait in long lines.

The DND flyway from Noida to Delhi saw huge traffic snarl and so did the Kalindi Kunj area of Delhi which connects the two points.

The Delhi police issued a statement on Monday saying security has been beefed up on all border points adding no permission has been granted for any demonstration in the national capital.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Sunday to inform the public about potential disruptions.

The police will set up barriers during the demonstration at all borders connecting Gautam Buddh Nagar to Delhi, where both Delhi and Gautam Buddh Nagar police will conduct intense checking.

The protest has been called Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP). “We are ready for our march towards Delhi. Tomorrow, on December 2, we will start our march towards Delhi from under the Maha Maya flyover," BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa said.

"At 12 pm, all of us will reach there... and demand our compensation and benefits as per the new laws,” he added.

The farmers intend to hold the march from Noida to Parliament complex in Delhi where the Winter session is currently underway. The protesting farmers will press their five key demands for compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.

The farmers are demanding an allocation of 10 per cent plots and 64.7 per cent increased compensation under the old acquisition law which is four times the market rate compensation.
