Mumbai Police Arrests 3 Drug Suppliers With MD Worth Over ₹2 Crore
Mumbai Police's ANC unit has arrested 3 with 1.18 kg MD drugs worth ₹2 crore in Ghatkopar and Andheri. Probe underway to expose wider drug network using digital and financial trails.

Mumbai Police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) has arrested three drug suppliers and seized 1.18 kg of MD drugs (Mephedrone) valued at over ₹2.03 crore in the international market.
The ANC’s Ghatkopar unit made the arrests from the Andheri and Ghatkopar areas. While patrolling near Ghatkopar Bus Stop, officers spotted two suspicious individuals. Upon inspection, they recovered 257 grams of MD from a 40-year-old Kandivali resident and 156 grams from a 29-year-old resident of Andheri (West).
Based on their interrogation, the ANC team apprehended a third suspect from Andheri and seized an additional 605 grams of the banned substance.
All three have been booked under the NDPS Act and are currently in police custody.
Investigators believe the accused are part of a larger drug trafficking network operating across Ghatkopar and Andheri. Authorities are now examining their digital records, call data, and financial transactions to uncover the broader syndicate and any past criminal links.
Nigerian Woman Arrested For Drug Smuggling
In a late-night operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai, intercepted a Nigerian woman travelling by bus from Delhi to Mumbai, uncovering a significant cache of narcotics cleverly disguised as food and beverages. The action was based on precise intelligence inputs, and the suspect was trailed for nearly 50 kilometres before officers moved in, reported news agency ANI.
Upon inspecting her luggage, DRI officials discovered packets of oats and tetra packs of juice. But a closer look revealed they were hiding something far more sinister. Field tests confirmed the presence of 2.56 kilograms of methamphetamine and 584 grams of ecstasy tablets — synthetic drugs with a combined street value of approximately ₹5 crore in the international illicit market.
A swift follow-up operation led to the arrest of the individual set to receive the narcotics consignment. The Nigerian national is currently in custody and will be prosecuted under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Investigations are still underway to unravel the wider network behind the smuggling attempt.
This incident adds to a series of recent high-profile busts by the Mumbai unit of the DRI, showcasing the agency’s intensified efforts to clamp down on cross-border smuggling activities.
Just last month, on May 11, DRI officers at Mumbai Airport intercepted a male passenger from Chad who had arrived via Addis Ababa. A detailed personal search led to the discovery of 4,015 grams of gold ingeniously hidden in the heels of his slippers. The gold, worth an estimated ₹3.86 crore, was seized on the spot.
In a voluntary statement, the accused confessed that the smuggling was an attempt to evade customs duties. He was arrested under the Customs Act, 1962, and a full investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the smuggling ring.
Earlier, in April, another smuggler, an Indian national, was caught red-handed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. DRI officers recovered two kilograms of gold bars from him, valued at around ₹1.91 crore. Legal action was initiated, and the gold was confiscated under the provisions of the Customs Act.
