MP Woman Seeks Permission From SP To End Her Life After Harassment By Police, Here's What Happened Next

The woman alleged that she was in distress after being constantly harassed by the Chhatarpur police over a complaint she had lodged against them through the CM helpline.

A woman from Madhya Pradesh sought permission from the Superintendent of Police to end her life, claiming to have been harassed by the Chhatarpur police to withdraw a complaint she registered against them through the CM helpline.

The SP reportedly gave his approval and even gave the receipt to the woman after signing the application form.

Shobha Jangariya, a Harpalpur resident, submitted an application to SP Agam Jain seeking permission to end her life. Jangariya had registered a complaint against the Chhatarpur Police for filing a false case against her husband. She has alleged that the cops were constantly forcing her to withdraw the complaint, a report by the Free Press Journal noted.

In her complaint, the woman had stated that her husband, Rajendra Jangariya, was attacked by two men from her neighbourhood on November 10. However, the police had filed an FIR against her husband instead of the two attackers, who had assaulted her husband under the influence of alcohol. Following this, she decided to report the cops through the CM helpline 181.

Once the cops got to know about the complaint, the Harpalpur Police Station In-Charge Pushpak Sharma allegedly pressurised her to withdraw the complaint and disconnect the helpline. The police also allegedly threatened to frame her in a false case, TV9 reported.

This left her feeling helpless, leading her to approach the SP on November 18, seeking official permission to end her life to escape the harassment. The woman stated that her plea was not heard anywhere and that she had no other option now but to end her life, citing SP's approval for it, TV9 reported.

After the application form went viral on social media, SP Jain, who is said to have approved her request initially, later denied his actions saying that her application did not mention anything about suicide.

However, the application form, according to media reports, clearly stated, "Application form for permision to commit suicde due to distress". An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
