A 29-year-old man accused of molesting a woman in Bengaluru was arrested from a remote village in Kerala. Santosh was traced to  Kozhikode after the police scanned footage from 700 CCTVs.

The accused allegedly grabbed and harassed a woman walking along a street in Bengaluru around 1.55 am on April 3. CCTV footage of the incident, which later went viral, showed the man with his face obscured.

Following the complaint, police filed an FIR under sections 74 (outraging modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda had earlier confirmed that a massive investigation was underway, with officials analyzing footage from over 300 CCTV cameras. Several special teams were formed to track the suspect.

Santosh was eventually traced to Kozhikode, Kerala, where he was apprehended.

The accused works as a driver in a Jaguar showroom in Bengaluru. The police said he escaped to Hosur in Tamil Nadu from Bengaluru when a manhunt was launched. He then fled to Salem and then to Kozhikode.
