Mahua Moitra's Adopted Dog 'Guddu' Dies Of Cardiac Arrest In Noida, MP Blames Firecrackers

Delhi Pollution Control Committee has mandated a complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers in Delhi until January 1, 2025.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra demanded that the Noida Police enforce a complete ban on firecrackers after a dog adopted by her died of cardiac arrest. "One of my rescued rehab babies just died of cardiac arrest at Smart Sanctuary Noida due to explosive non-stop banned firecrackers. This is murder. Can you please enforce the ban? Shameful," she wrote on X tagging Noida Police. The incident occurred at Smart Sanctuary, an animal shelter in Noida.

The owner of the shelter explained how the dog, Guddu, died. "Vet confirmed cardiac arrest. I was right there when a string of loud crackers burst non-stop, causing our Guddu to go into hyperventilation till he gave up. Rest of my rescues are hiding, shivering, & have been advised anti-anxiety meds to prevent mishaps. Street animals are already in distress, & it's not even Diwali," she shared in her post.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has mandated a complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers in Delhi until January 1, 2025.

In an official statement, the committee said, "There will be a complete ban on the manufacturing, storage, selling (including delivery through online platforms), and bursting of all kinds of firecrackers up to January 1, 2025, in the territory of NCT of Delhi."
