Days after panic over alleged poisonous capsules in Mumbai, another suspected contamination scare has emerged in Maharashtra, this time in Dharashiv district, where two nurses fell seriously ill after consuming a cold drink believed to be contaminated. The beverages were reportedly meant to be distributed to devotees during the annual Wari pilgrimage.

The incident took place in Kalamb town of Dharashiv district. The two nurses, identified as Pooja Jadhav and Pallavi Saudagar, allegedly suffered food poisoning after drinking the cold beverage. Their condition is reported to be critical.

Pooja Jadhav is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Galaxy Hospital in Latur, while Pallavi Saudagar has been admitted to a hospital in Ambajogai.

According to officials, the cold drinks were intended for distribution to devotees participating in the Gajanan Maharaj Palkhi procession from Shegaon. The suspected food poisoning incident came to light before the beverages could be distributed, potentially preventing a larger public health emergency.

Following the incident, a team from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reached the spot and seized the stock of cold drinks that was to be distributed during the pilgrimage.

Police and staff from the government hospital are currently at the site. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine where the cold drinks came from and who was responsible for arranging their distribution.
