'Turning Maharashtra Into Next Manipur’: Aaditya Thackeray Slams Fadnavis Govt Over Nagpur Violence

Aaditya Thackeray criticised CM Fadnavis for mishandling Nagpur violence while accusing the BJP of trying to turn Maharashtra into the next Manipur.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray slammed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for failing to control the violence in Nagpur and claimed that the BJP-led government was trying to turn Maharashtra into the next Manipur.

On Tuesday, while addressing the press, MLA Aaditya Thackeray criticised the Maharashtra government for its handling of the Nagpur violence, citing the CMO's lack of response.

Thackeray asked, "Why did the CMO not react when rumours of violence were spreading in Nagpur? Whenever such an incident is about to take place, the first report arrives at the Chief Minister of the state and the Home Department. Did they not have any information regarding this? I think the BJP wants to make Maharashtra the next Manipur."

BJP Wants Maharashtra Into Manipur

He further said that conflicts in Manipur affect investment and growth and compared India with Vietnam, a country which has a growing electronic industry.

"If you take a look at Manipur, the state has been experiencing violence since 2023. There are conflicts across the state. Will there be investments there or growth in tourism? No.”

They want to put Maharashtra in the same situation. I was reading today that Vietnam is a smaller country than India, and the population is also less, but their electronics industry is 3 times more. Our country considers itself strong, but the BJP is trying to divide the country into districts, religions, and castes," said Thackeray.

On Friday violent clashes spread out in Nagpur after Hindu outfits held a protest demanding the removal of Arungzeb’s tomb. Earlier today Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attributed the violence to the film ‘Chhava’. He said that the film had ‘ignited people’s anger against Aurangzeb. He also said that the attack seemed to be pre-planned.

“In Nagpur, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal held protests. Rumours were spread that things containing religious content were burnt. It looks like a well-planned attack. No one has permission to take law and order in their hands,” said Fadnavis in a report by ANI.
