Kota Man 'Buys' Railway Job For Wife, Reports It After She Leaves Him; CBI Probe Unveils Recruitment 'Scam'
Manish Meena, a Kota resident, approached the railways nearly eight months ago, alleging that his wife Asha Meena had secured a job in the department using a dummy candidate.

A man in Rajasthan allegedly secured a government job for his wife through an 'illegal' channel. However, when he got betrayed by his wife after a few months, he brought the matter to the attention of the authorities, leading to the exposure of a major recruitment scam in the Railways by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Manish Meena, a Kota resident, approached the railways nearly eight months ago, alleging that his wife Asha Meena had secured a job in the department using a dummy candidate (someone else took the exam on her behalf). He further claimed that the dummy was arranged by an agent named Rajendra, who is also a railway guard. He claimed to have had paid a sum of Rs 15 crore for the job, which he said he had raised by mortgaging his agricultural land, Times Of India reported.
Five months into the job, his wife refused to live with him and left him calling him "unemployed". Feeling betrayed, Manish approached the authorities with his grievances, following which the vigilance department of the West Central Railway launched an investigation. The matter eventually landed with the CBI, which filed a case last Friday.
The FIR has been filed against Delhi Police constable Laxmi Meena, railway pointswoman Asha Meena (Manish's wife), and other unidentified railway officials.
CBI Uncovers Wider Recruitment 'Scam'
The CBI found out during preliminary probe that Asha might not be the only one to have secured a job using a dummy candidate, pointing out a larger recruitment scam. Manish Meena told TOI that he has reached out to the Special Operations Group (SOG), ministry of railways, as well as railway officials, in the past eight months.
"I was informed that my wife and railway guard Rajendra were suspended, but no action was taken against the senior officials in Jabalpur who are running this racket," he said.
CBI is also investigating the role of Laxmi Meena, the dummy candidate, accused of impersonating real candidates in railway exams.
Manish's complaint also says that Laxmi had appeared as a dummy for both Asha and another candidate Sapna. She appeared for two different examinations and even completed their physical tests and document verification process. While Asha became a pointswoman, Sapna became a helper in the WCR due to Laxmi's impersonation.
He also said that Laxmi herself was recruited as a Delhi Police constable a few months ago. According to records, Laxmi is a resident of Alwar's Chandpura village and appeared for the regional Railway Recruitment Board Grade-4 exam on August 30, 2022 on Asha's behalf, TOI reported.
According to the report, it is being suspected that it could be larger recruitment scam with involvement of middlemen and railway officials. Apart from the suspension of lower-level employees, Manish has been pressing for action against the senior officials in Jabalpur, who allegedly facilitated the racket. Sources told TOI that the CBI would register more FIRs in connection with the matter.
