Karnataka Court Orders Probe Against CM Siddaramaiah In MUDA Case

The special court in Bengaluru has also directed the Lokayukta's Mysuru district police to conduct the investigation into MUDA case and submit a report within three months.

A special court in Bengaluru has ordered an investigation into Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by the Karnataka Lokayukta in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. The court has also directed the Lokayukta's Mysuru district police to conduct the investigation and submit a report within three months.

The order comes after activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a private complaint against Siddaramaiah, prompting the special court for people's representatives to take action.

Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna said, "FIR will have to be registered as per the order. Mysuru Lokayukta jurisdiction will register an FIR and do the investigation."

On the order, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, "The copy of the court order has not yet been received. I am going to Kerala. I will get the court order copy in the evening. I will fight. I am not afraid of anything. We are ready to face the investigation. I will fight this legally."

On Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court recently dismissed a petition filed by Siddaramaiah challenging the Governor's sanction for his prosecution in the alleged scam.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna, presiding over the single-judge bench, stated that the Governor possesses the authority to make independent decisions regarding such matters. The judge also noted that the complainants acted within their rights to file the complaint and seek the Governor's sanction.

The case stems from a private complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamai Krishna, who alleged that Rs 56 crore had been paid by MUDA to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife. The issue concerns the acquisition of 14 replacement plots, and Krishna claims that Siddaramaiah misused his power in facilitating these land allotments.

It is alleged that MUDA improperly granted these plots in exchange for 3 acres and 16 guntas of land from survey number 464 in Kesare village, Mysore. Activists have claimed that the CM exerted influence over MUDA officials to facilitate this transaction.
