YSRCP Loses Third Rajya Sabha MP In A Month. Krishnaiah Quits With 'Plans To Float Party For BCs'

Similarly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s close relative and five-time MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy who quit YSRCP is officially set to join the JanaSena Party (JSP), led by Pawan Kalyan.

In a significant development, two senior leaders from Andhra Pradesh politics are making headlines after recently quiting YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). A day after resigning from his Rajya Sabha membership, prominent YSRCP leader R. Krishnaiah announced on Wednesday that he is under pressure to float a new political party representing the Backward Classes (BCs).

Similarly, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s close relative and five-time MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy is officially set to join the JanaSena Party (JSP), led by Pawan Kalyan.

Krishnaiah To Launch BC-Focused Party?

Krishnaiah, a staunch advocate for BC rights, has stated that he will not be joining any existing political party, despite receiving offers from both the Congress and BJP. Instead, he said that he was contemplating the formation of a political party dedicated to the empowerment of BC communities. "There is pressure from my followers and well-wishers to float a political party for BCs. I will take a decision in a month," he said.

He also emphasised the need for increased representation for BCs, calling for quotas in legislatures and local bodies to be raised to 50% based on population ratios. Explaining his resignation from YSRCP, Krishnaiah cited ideological differences, stating that his affiliation with the party limited his ability to collaborate with leaders from other political outfits who share his BC agenda.

Balineni Srinivasa Reddy To Join JanaSena

Adding to YSRCP’s woes, former minister and long-time MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy who left the party last week is set to join JanaSena on Thursday. Balineni had expressed dissatisfaction with the YSRCP leadership, particularly after his concerns regarding the efficacy of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the recent Assembly elections were reportedly ignored.

Last week, Balineni submitted his resignation from YSRCP, signaling his discontent. Later, he met with JanaSena chief Pawan Kalyan to formalise his induction into the party. Although the former minister did not specify his reasons for leaving YSRCP in his resignation letter, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy opposed the "wrong decisions" of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
