Karnataka: 35-Year-Old Govt Employee Dies By Suicide In Tehsildar’s Office

Yadavanna, who served as a Second Division Assistant (SDA), was found dead in the Tehsildar’s chamber, prompting a detailed investigation by the police.

Belagavi news: A 35-year-old government employee, identified as Rudaranna Yadavanna, was found dead by suicide inside the Tehsildar’s office in Belagavi on Tuesday. Yadavanna, who served as a Second Division Assistant (SDA), was found hanging in the Tehsildar’s chamber, prompting a detailed investigation by  police to uncover the circumstances leading up to his death.

A senior police official stated that their team was alerted when a body was discovered hanging in the office using a veil. Authorities are currently examining potential causes behind Yadavanna’s death, including allegations of workplace harassment or injustices, as per a report on PTI. Police are working closely with the Forensic Science Laboratory, which will conduct a thorough examination of the scene, while CCTV footage from the office premises is being reviewed for any possible leads.

The investigation took a significant turn after reports surfaced that Yadavanna had sent a message on a staff WhatsApp group shortly before his death, where he named two individuals he held responsible for his situation, as reported by IANS. In the message, he allegedly mentioned experiencing injustices in the office and urged his colleagues to stand against the "injustice" he had faced.

The incident has stirred political controversy with Karnataka BJP leaders calling for the resignation of the minister in charge of the department, citing a lack of accountability and insufficient workplace protections.

Yadavanna, who had recently been transferred to Belagavi, worked alongside his wife, who is employed as a village accountant in the same office. The Khadebazar police have registered the case and are continuing the investigation based on the statements of family members and colleagues.
