J&K CM Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex Gratia For Pahalgam Attack Victims’ Families, Calls It ‘Barbaric Act Of Terror’

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah also expressed profound shock and anguish over the cowardly and heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam on Tuesday.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced an ex gratia relief package on Wednesday for victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, as a gesture of solidarity and to provide some relief from hardship to the grieving families.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government will provide Rs 10 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack. Further, Rs 2 lakh will be given to those who sustained serious injuries, and Rs 1 lakh to those with minor injuries.

CM Omar Abdullah also expressed profound shock and anguish over the cowardly and heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam on Tuesday, labeling the act as a barbaric and senseless act of brutality against innocent civilians.

“This despicable act of terror has no place in our society. We mourn the precious lives lost and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Our hearts go out to them in this dark hour," the Chief Minister said.

CM Omar Abdullah Ensures Required Arrangements

In addition, the Chief Minister assured that all the required arrangements have been made for the transportation of the mortal remains to the native places of the respective victims. And, the injured are being provided with the best possible medical treatment.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We share your grief and stand by you in this dark hour,” he added.

Reaffirming the government's unwavering stance against terrorism, the Chief Minister declared, "Terrorism cannot shake our determination. We will not stop until the perpetrators of this heinous act are held accountable."

At least 26 individuals were killed and several were injured in the terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

In response, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday vowed strong retaliation against perpetrators of the attack and said India will not be afraid of such attacks.
