IFS Officer Found Dead In Delhi's Chanakyapuri, Suicide Suspected

The IFS officer is said to have been battling depression, for which he was even undergoing treatment. He reportedly jumped from the fourth floor of a building.

An Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer was found dead on Friday in Delhi's Chanakyapuri area. Delhi Police are suspecting it to be a case of suicide. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, sources told ABP News.

According to Delhi Police, the IFS officer ended his life by jumping from the fourth floor of a building in Chanakyapuri. They have confirmed that there was no foul play suspected in the officer's death, news agency PTI reported. 

The report also noted that the officer was undergoing treatment for depression. He lived with his mother on the first floor of the MEA Society in Chanakyapuri. His wife and children are staying in Dehradun. 

MEA Issues Statement After IFS Officer's Demise

Following the incident, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement and assured assistance to the deceased officer's family. 

"An officer of the Ministry of External Affairs passed away in the morning of March 07, 2025 in New Delhi. The Ministry is providing all possible assistance to the family, and is in touch with the Delhi Police. The Ministry stands with the family in this hour of grief and difficulty. Further details are not being released bearing in mind the need to respect the family’s privacy in this time of bereavement," the statement noted.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
