Several coaches of the Secunderabad Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Nalpur station in West Bengal's Howrah district on Saturday morning.
Several coaches of Secundrabad Shalimar Superfast Express derailed in West Bengal's Howrah district on Saturday morning. No major injury or casualty has been reported, said CPRO, South-Eastern Railway, Om Prakash Charan.
"Today morning at 5:31 am, Secunderabad Shalimar Weekly Express Train derailed while going from middle line to down line in Nalpur railway station," Charan said.
"One parcel van and two passenger coaches have been derailed," he said, adding no major injury or casualty have been reported.

In view of the mishap, the South Eastern Railway released help desk numbers for Shalimar, Santragachi, Kharagpur, and Howrah.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) at Kharagpur, KR Chaudhary said all the passengers are safe and no one is injured. Arrangements have been made including buses to send the passengers to their destination, said the DRM, adding that the restoration work was underway.

Later in the day, train services resumed on the UP Main Line near Nalpur railway station while repair work was going in the Down line. "The restoration work will take about 2 more hours. Once it is completed, train operations will be resumed on the down line as well," the DRM said.
An accident relief train and medical relief trains were dispatched from Santragachi and Kharagpur to the derailment spot, Charan said. Schedule of some express trains and EMU locals were affected due to derailment, he added.
