Non-Bailable Warrant Issued Against Congress MP Imran Masood In Forgery Case
Masood's legal team had earlier filed an application claiming that the FIR was motivated by political vendetta. Acting on this claim, the court had subsequently ordered the case to be transferred.

A special CBI court in Ghaziabad has issued a non-bailable warrant against Congress MP Imran Masood in connection with a 2007 forgery case. The court has directed the Ghaziabad Police to arrest and produce Masood before it on July 18.
Confirming the development, government counsel Adesh Kumar Tyagi said on Saturday that the case dates back to March 8, 2007, when Masood was serving as the chairman of the Saharanpur Municipality. An FIR was filed by the municipality’s executive officer alleging fraudulent financial transactions amounting to Rs 40 lakh.
The charges were framed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 420 (cheating), Section 467 (forgery of valuable security), Section 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and Section 471 (using as genuine a forged document). Tyagi stated that during the investigation, another individual, Harsh Malik, an employee of the municipality, was also found to be involved in the alleged scam.
Imran Masood Cites Political Vendetta
Masood's legal team had earlier filed an application claiming that the FIR was motivated by political vendetta. Acting on this claim, the court had subsequently ordered the case to be transferred from Saharanpur to Ghaziabad.
Despite the transfer and subsequent proceedings, Masood has failed to appear before the court on multiple dates. On Friday, Special Judge Arvind Mishra took note of his repeated absence and issued a non-bailable warrant.
The Ghaziabad Police has been asked to produce Masood before the court on July 18, Tyagi said. He added that the court has taken a serious view of the Congress leader’s non-compliance with summons and is moving forward with stricter procedural steps.
