Fire Breaks Out At Turbhe Dumping Ground In Navi Mumbai

A fire broke out at the Turbhe dumping ground late last night in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai. Fire tenders are present at the spot, and efforts are underway to control the blaze.

This comes just days after a massive fire erupted at the Turbhe dumping ground on February 11, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air. The firefighters immediately rushed to the ground to contain the flames, which started around midday. No casualties were reported.

Turbhe dumping ground is one of the city’s largest waste disposal sites and contains several combustible materials such as plastics and chemicals. Officials stated that these factors might have contributed to the intensity of the fire.

The residents in the area had flagged concerns regarding air pollution and exposure to harmful emissions. People in the affected areas were advised by the health authorities to remain indoors and keep windows closed.
