Delhi Weather Set For A Change As IMD Forecasts Relief From Heatwave With Rain. Check Details

Delhi weather news: A yellow alert for rain on Thursday and Friday has been issued in Delhi. The Maximum temperature today is expected to be between 38°C and 40°C.

Delhi Weather Forecast: The heatwave in Delhi NCR refuses to relent and continues to bake the national capital. However, on Tuesday morning, there were indications of a change in the weather as cold winds blew over the region. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cloudy skies are expected in the national capital.

The IMD has forecast rain with thunderstorms, which is expected to provide some relief from the intense heat. Showers with thunderstorms are also expected on Thursday and Friday, which could bring down Delhi-NCR's temperature further.

Delhi Temperature Today 

As per IMD: "There has been a fall in minimum temperature up to 03 - 05°C and a fall in maximum temperature up to 01°C over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are in the range of 40°C to 42°C and 22°C to 26°C, respectively.

On Tuesday, April 29, the maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 38°C to 40°C and 24°C to 26°C, respectively, the IMD said

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert for rain and thundershowers on Thursday and Friday.

Temperature above average

On Monday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 40.4 degrees Celsius, which is 1.4 degrees above the average for this season. The minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.6 degrees below normal. The relative humidity during the day ranged between 43% and 32%.

On Sunday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above normal and the highest minimum temperature recorded in April in the last six years. Prior to this, it was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius on 25 April 2019.

Delhi's AQI Deteriorates Again 

According to the Early Warning System for Delhi, the capital's air quality remained in the 'poor' category. At 5:30 AM on Tuesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 247.

An AQI is considered 'good' between zero and 50, 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100, 'moderate' between 101 and 200, 'poor' between 201 and 300, 'very poor' between 301 and 400, and 'severe' between 401 and 500.
