Biting Cold Subsides In Delhi, But Relief Is Temporary: Check Weather Forecast For This Week
Delhi experienced its second warmest day of the season on Wednesday, with the temperature exceeding 25 degrees Celsius. This follows a previous high of 26.1 degrees Celsius on January 19.

Delhi Weather Update: Delhi-NCR saw light rain on Wednesday night, which brought down the temperature again. According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, there will be moderate fog in the morning on Thursday, January 23. The day will be generally cloudy and the national capital may see light rain. Light fog may prevail in the evening or at night.
While the maximum temperature on Thursday could drop to 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature could remain at 12 degrees Celsius. There will be no significant fluctuations in temperature from January 24 to 28. Moderate fog will persist during this period. While the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius.
Second Warmest Day Of January
Wednesday was the second warmest day of January in Delhi. This is the second time in the month that the maximum temperature went above 25 degrees Celsius. Earlier on January 19, the temperature was recorded at 26.1 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was 25.6 degrees Celsius. This was 5.3 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 9.3 degrees Celsius. This was 1.8 degrees warmer than normal. The humidity was between 55% and 100%.
Delhi Temperature To Drop Further
According to the IMD, there was an increase in temperature across North India for one to two days during the Western Disturbance. However, the cold will increase after that. As the effect of the Western Disturbance subsides from 24 January, the temperature will start to drop. Fog may also be seen. Weather experts say that air quality may deteriorate due to smog.
The minimum temperature on Thursday is predicted to be around 11 degrees Celsius. This could drop to 7 degrees Celsius by January 26. It is likely to begin rising again on January 28.
The maximum temperature is also likely to drop to 20 degrees Celsius on January 25, before rising again on January 27.
AQI ‘Very Poor’
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded at 321 at 7 AM, which falls in the ‘Very Poor’ category. An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered good, between 51 and 100 is considered satisfactory, between 101 and 200 is considered moderate, between 201 and 300 is considered poor, between 301 and 400 is considered very poor and between 401 and 500 is considered severe.
