Several Vehicles Gutted As Fire Breaks Out In Delhi's Wazirabad Area

A fire in a police yard in Delhi destroyed several vehicles. Seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire.

A fire broke out in a police 'malkhana' in northeast Delhi's Wazirabad area early Sunday, gutting many vehicles, an official of the Delhi Fire Service said, PTI reported.

As per the official, the fire service responded quickly when the fire broke out in the malkhana, or yard, at around 4:30 in the morning.

The situation was brought under control by 6:20 AM, after seven fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire. However, the cooling operation is still on.

Fire In Noida

A massive fire broke out in Noida Sector-63, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The plumes of black smoke from the fire could be seen several kilometres away.

ADCP Central Noida, Hirdesh Katheria, said, "Sector 63 police station received an alert of a fire in Sector 63. The fire started at a hut in a slum in Bahlolpur and spread to a nearby warehouse. The situation was brought under control with the help of 10 fire engines." Katheria said there was no loss of life. An investigation into the incident has been started.

On March 6, a fire had gutted a part of a slum in Chotpur, Noida Sector 63. This is the same area where Saturday's fire broke out. Again, on March 16, a fire broke out at a garment factory in Sector 63.

Earlier Fire Incidents

On April 2, a massive fire broke out at a garment warehouse in Saraswati Enclave Industrial area and soon spread to two adjoining warehouses of liquor and shoes, prompting a 12-hour operation to douse the blaze.

While no one was reported injured despite the intensity of the fire, there was extensive damage to goods in the warehouses.

More than 20 fire tenders and over 200 firefighters had to be deployed to control the fire.

A massive fire also engulfed a four-storey commercial complex in central Delhi’s Jhandewalan Extension on April 1, damaging nearly three dozen vehicles, officials said. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Thick plumes of black smoke and towering flames could be seen from a distance as the fire rapidly spread through the building, which houses an ICICI Bank branch, an ATM, and a Domino’s Pizza outlet, among other offices. Initially, eight fire tenders were deployed, but as the flames intensified due to strong winds, additional resources were called in, a Delhi Fire Services official said, as per news agency PTI.
