Delhi Police Bust Honeytrap Racket, Arrest 3 Posing As Cops
Delhi Police has apprehended three honeytrap extortion gang members who impersonated police to blackmail victims in the Rohini area.

Delhi Police has arrested three members of a honeytrap extortion racket who allegedly posed as cops to blackmail victims and extort money from them in the Rohini area, officials said on Thursday.
As per the information shared by the police, the accused have been identified as Neeraj, Aashish and Yogesh alias Dhilu, all residents of Bahadurgarh in Haryana. All the three of them are in the age group of 35 to 40 years.
A senior police official said that the gang used to hold meetings with the victims by luring them and after building their trust, they would get them into compromising activities. The accused, then, used to come in police uniforms and threaten the victim of police action and demanded money to avoid it.
DCP Vishnu Kumar Sharma said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "Rohini Police have busted a honey trap racket, in which three accused have been arrested, two scooters and three mobile phones have also been recovered. This gang used to hold meetings with the victims by luring them... Then, after building their trust, they would get them into compromising activities... Then, they used to come in police uniforms and threaten the victim of police action and demanded money to avoid it... They were wearing uniforms when they were arrested. They were asked about where they worked, but they could not give a satisfactory answer, so they were brought in for questioning. Later, it was found out that they were involved in a honeytrap racket. Three accused have been caught, Neeraj, Ashish and Yogesh... All in the age group of 35 to 40 years and are residents of Bahadurgarh..."
On Wednesday, the police intercepted two scooters near the Delhi Jal Board office in Vijay Vihar. According to the police, the suspects initially claimed to be Delhi Police officials and even produced fake identity cards.
"However, sensing inconsistencies in their statements, police detained them for further verification. When questioned, the suspects initially attempted to mislead the police but later confessed their involvement in multiple extortion cases, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini), Amit Goel said, as reported by news agency PTI.
An FIR has been registered at Vijay Vihar Police Station under multiple sections of BNS. Further investigation is underway to identify others.
