Two people were charred to death after a fire broke out at a house in Delhi's Bholanath Nagar, said the police on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Shilpi Gupta (42) and her son Pranav Gupta (16).

Four other people were injured in the incident and have been admitted to GTB Hospital for treatment. Among the injured are Kailash Gupta (72), Bhagwati Gupta (70), Manish Gupta (45), and Parth Gupta (19).

All the deceased and injured people belonged to the same family, according to the police.

Farsh Bazar police station received information about the incident at 5:50 am on Friday after which 6 fire tenders were pressed to the spot for service. The fire on the third floor of the building was doused by the firefighters who discovered the bodies of the deceased.

According to the police, prima facie, the cause of the death of the deceased seemed to be due to asphyxia and forensic experts have been called for further examination. Legal action will be taken accordingly in the matter, the cops said.

The house belonged to Manish Gupta who ran an electric equipment shop at Bhagirath Palace, said the police.
