Delhi Man Strangles Woman To Death, Dumps Body In Canal In Chhawla Area; Arrested

The accused had picked Komal up from Seemapuri in his car on March 12. However, a dispute erupted between the two, which led the man to strangle the woman to death.

A woman was allegedly kidnapped and strangled to death by a man in Delhi. Her body was tied to a stone and dumped in a canal in the city. It was only after her body was found floating in the canal in Delhi's Chhawla area on Thursday that the police started an investigation, leading to the arrest of the prime accused named Asif.

The woman has been identified as Komal, a resident of Seemapuri's Sundari Nagar. Police investigation revealed that the accused, a taxi driver by profession, was Komal's old acquaintance, NDTV reported.

What Police Probe Revealed

The accused had picked Komal up from Seemapuri in his car on March 12. However, a dispute erupted between the two, which led the man to strangle the woman to death. However, he did not stop here. He tied her body to a stone and threw it in a canal to get rid of it.

On March 17, the victim's body was found floating on the water's surface after swelling up. This alerted this police authorities in the area, prompting them to register a murder case at the Chhawla police station. A kidnapping case had earlier been registered at the same police station after Komal went missing from her home, the report said. 

Police have arrested Asif and the car in which he allegedly strangled the victim has also been seized. An investigation is underway to ascertain if the likelihood of the involvement of other persons in the murder.

This case comes a day after news of a Merchant Navy officer from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut being murdered, dismembered, and his body being put into a drum and sealed with cement surfaced. The man had returned from London for his wife's birthday, but was killed by her and her lover.
