Delhi: Hidden Camera Found Dwarka Hospital Changing Room, Housekeeping Staffer Arrested

A hidden mobile phone in a hospital changing room sparked concerns of women's safety. A housekeeping staffer suspected of hiding the phone has been arrested.

A mobile phone hidden inside a women's changing room at a government hospital in the Dwarka district of Delhi sparked a furore on Friday. The mobile phone was hidden in the changing room allegedly by a housekeeping staffer of the hospital. The suspect has been arrested.

According to the police, this incident happened on Thursday when a female staffer heard a phone ringing while changing clothes in the room. When she looked around, she found that a mobile phone was hidden there. She immediately raised an alarm and the hospital informed the police.

On reaching the spot, the police seized the phone and arrested the accused staffer. In the initial investigation, no objectionable video was found on the accused's phone. However, the police sent the phone for forensic examination to check for any hidden files.

The police said that a preliminary probe revealed that the accused was not successful in making any video. The police are waiting for the forensic examination report.

"We have arrested the accused who has confessed to keeping a mobile phone inside of the washroom,” a police officer was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. During interrogation the accused revealed that he had been doing this for the last one month, the police said.

Phone Camera Hidden At Bhopal Diagnostic Centre Changing Room

A similar incident happened the same day at a diagnostic centre in Bhopal’s Arera Hills. A woman visiting the Medi Scan Center for medical tests discovered a hidden mobile phone in the changing room. Her husband, who accompanied her, found the device concealed in the false ceiling as she prepared to change clothes.

The couple immediately reported the matter to the centre's management. Instead of addressing their concerns, the staff reportedly responded with hostility. One employee even attempted to wrest the phone away from the couple, reported ETV Bharat.

Unwilling to let the incident slide, the woman's husband contacted the police. Authorities later confirmed that the phone contained multiple recordings of women changing clothes in the facility. The device's owner, an employee of the diagnostic centre, was arrested and is now under interrogation.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused employee exploited the privacy of patients by discreetly placing the phone in the false ceiling. Women visiting the centre for sonography were particularly targeted, as they were required to use the room to change clothes before undergoing their tests.
