Delhi: 4 AC Mechanics Found Unconscious In Room, 3 Died, 1 Critical; Gas Leak Suspected

When a police team rushed to the house to check, they found four men unconscious on the first floor of a one-room house. They were rushed to a hospital where three of them were declared dead.

Four men were found unconscious on Saturday inside a locked house in south Delhi's Dakshinpuri. It was later discovered that three of them had died, while another is in a critical condition. Police are suspecting that the cause of their death is suffocation.

The revelation was made after a man called up the police, complaining that his brother was not picking up his phone. When a police team rushed to the house to check, they found four men unconscious on the first floor of a one-room house, news agency PTI reported.

The caller, Zishan of Bhalswa Dairy, told police that his relatives Imran alias Salman, and Mohsin, were inside the house and were not picking up his calls.

They were then rushed to Dr Ambedkar Hospital, from where they were later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS Trauma Centre, a police officer said.

Three of them, identified as Imran, Mohsin, and another unidentified man, were declared dead. The fourth man, Haseeb, is undergoing treatment. Police is yet to identify one of the deceased.

All four were AC mechanics and had been living together in the same room.

Although the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, police are suspecting that they died of suffocation as there were some AC units and gas cylinders kept inside the room.Post-mortem examinations are expected to provide more clarity.

DCP Ankit Chouhan said:, "We received a call at about 11:15 am... the caller said that his brother is not opening door of his room. When the police officials reached the spot, they found four people unconscious. There were some AC units kept inside the room and gas cylinders. All of them were evacuated immediately and sent to hospital. Three of them were declared brought dead and one is under treatment. Prima facie, there is no foul play. Further investigation is being done to determine whether there was any gas leak."

A Delhi Police team is present on the scene as an investigation is underway. A forensic unit has also been called in to investigate further.
