Power Shutdown In Coimbatore On June 12-13 For Maintenance Work — Check Areas Hit & Timings

Coimbatore is set to face power shutdown on June 12-13 between 9 am-4 pm for Tangedco's monthly maintenance

Several areas across Coimbatore district are set to face power outages due to scheduled maintenance works on power lines, with shutdowns planned from 9 am to 4 pm on June 12, and 13. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has announced that the power cut is necessary for monthly upkeep, including line repairs and tree trimming near power lines.

Coimbatore Power Cut 

On June 12, residents in and around Koilpalayam will face a full-day power cut. The affected localities include Sarkarsamakulam, Kovilpalayam, Kurumbapalayam, Mannikampalayam, Agrakara Samakulam, Kondaiyampalayam, Kunnathur, Kallipalayam, Mondikalipudur, and Thudiyalur.

The shutdown will be experience in parts of Somayampalayam on June 13, impacting areas such as KV SS, Somayampalayam, Yamuna Nagar, Kalappanaickenpalayam, GCT Nagar, Kanuvai, KNG Pudur, Thadagam Road, Cheran Industries part, Vidhya Colony, Saj Garden, V.M.T. Nagar, Teachers Colony, and Namitha Colony.

Earlier on June 11, power supply was suspended in zones under the Saravanampatti substation. Residents in Saravanampatti, Amman Kovil, Chinnavedampatty, Krishnapuram, Sivananthapuram, Vellakinar, Urumandampalayam, Gounder Mill, Subramaniyampalayam, Jayaprakash Nagar, Nachimuthu Nagar, Maniyakarampalayam (part), Ganapathi Puthur, Udayampalayam, and Lakshminagar experienced outages from 9 am to 4 pm.

Reason For Coimbatore Power Shutdown 

The Electricity Board carries out monthly maintenance to ensure the reliability of power infrastructure. The works include checking transformers, clearing vegetation around electric poles, and replacing worn-out parts.

Residents are advised to make necessary arrangements, including storing sufficient water and completing essential electrical tasks ahead of the shutdowns.

At the time of power shutdown, it is essential to stay hydrated. Therefore, affected residents are advised to drink plenty of water and keep a thermos or insulated bottle filled with cold water. They can also opt for battery-operated fans or coolers to get relief, especially in summer conditions. They should also ensure to charge them in advance.
