CM Atishi, Arvind Kejriwal Join Chhath Puja Celebrations, Perform Rituals In Delhi: WATCH

Delhi CM Atishi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal joined the Chhath Puja celebrations today and were spotted performing the rituals at separate venues in the national capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi joined the Chhath Puja celebrations on Thursday, November 7 at the Chhath Pooja Ghat in Balamkund Khand, Giri Nagar, where she was seen performing the rituals.

Dressed in traditional attire and carrying a soop in her hand, the Delhi CM was seen offering prayers to the Sun God on the third day of the Chhath Puja, while a woman standing beside her assisted her with the rituals.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also performed Chhath Puja rituals in Vidhan Sabha, Delhi.

After performing the rituals, Atishi said that she extended wishes to those celebrating Chhath in the national capital and shared that she prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Delhi.

"I want to extend my best wishes to all Purvanchali brothers and sisters and all residents of Delhi on Chhath Puja. Today the festival of Chhath is being celebrated with great pomp in Delhi. Chhath Ghats have been built by the Delhi government in every corner of Delhi. Today I have just offered prayers to Chhathi Maiya and Lord Bhaskar for the prosperity and good health of all the people of Delhi. The Delhi government builds such Chhath Ghats in all parts of Delhi so that our Purvanchali brothers and sisters never feel that they are far from their homes," Atishi said.

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi government had organised Chhath Puja celebrations at more than 1,000 locations in the national capital, which he said is a significant increase from the 200-250 venues that were set up before the AAP-led government came to power.

"May Chhathi Maiya give a lot of happiness, blessings. I just came to my Vidhan Sabha to worship Chhathi Maiya. I worshipped with everyone. The Delhi government has organized Chhath Puja in more than 1000 places in Delhi. Before our government was formed, it was organized at 200-250 places. But for the convenience of the public, we have organized the event at many places in Delhi and I am very happy," he said.
