15-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted While Playing Badminton In Mumbai

Akash and his friends were playing badminton in the society compound. During the game, the shuttlecock became lodged near the window of a first-floor flat.

A 15-year-old boy was tragically electrocuted while playing badminton inside his residential society in Nallasopara, near Mumbai. The victim, Akash Santosh Sahu, was a Class 10 student and was playing with friends when the accident occurred on Friday evening.

According to reports, the incident unfolded around 7 pm, when Akash and his friends were playing badminton in the society compound. During the game, the shuttlecock became lodged near the window of a first-floor flat.

In an attempt to retrieve it, Akash climbed up but came into contact with a live electrical wire connected to an air-conditioner unit located close to the window. The shock was so intense that he collapsed immediately.

The horrifying moment was captured on the society’s CCTV camera, which reportedly shows the teen receiving a severe electric shock before falling to the ground. He died on the spot.

Police Launch Investigation

The police have begun a probe into the incident to determine how such a high-voltage connection was left exposed in a residential setting.

Authorities are closely examining the wiring of the air-conditioner to assess whether negligence played a role in the accident. If any lapses in safety protocols are found, action is likely to follow against those responsible for the electrical installation.

Akash's untimely death has left the local community in deep shock and grief. The incident has sparked renewed concern about electrical safety in residential societies, especially those with aging infrastructure or poorly maintained installations.

Officials are now urging housing complexes to conduct urgent audits of electrical systems and reinforce safety checks to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
