BJP MLA's Remark On Air Force Over Op Sindoor Sparks Row

BJP MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania criticised the Air Force during a protest against eviction notices near the Udhampur airbase, questioning their role in "Operation Sindoor."

Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania has stoked a controversy after he questioned the role of Air Force personnel during Operation Sindoor.

On Wednesday, the legislator from Udhampur East came out in solidarity with people who had been served a notice issued by the Air Force Station in Udhampur. The notice instructs the removal of shops and houses along the road adjacent to the airbase to facilitate the widening of the road.

The people who were served the notice protested the Air Force's move and Pathania joined them in their demonstration.

Addressing the gathering, he said that when the airport came to Udhampur, they were provided with a road for connectivity without any compensation. He emphasised that the law states that land cannot be taken unless the government acquires it and provides compensation to the affected people.

He further mentioned that everyone was aware of what happened at the Air Force Station during Operation Sindoor. He remarked that if there was negligence, it was on the part of the Air Force and not on the people’s. "We placed them on a pedestal and yet this is what happened," he said.

Op Sindoor Was Failure: Sanjay Raut

On Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also courted a controversy over India's anti-terror offensive in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that Operation Sindoor was a failure but opposition members are not speaking against it in the interest of the nation.

“As I have said earlier, Operation Sindoor was a failure. However, in the interests of the nation, we opposition members are not speaking about it,” said Raut.

“Why Operation Sindoor was needed…terrorists removed the sindoor from the forehead of our mothers, sisters and daughters,” he added, holding Shah responsible for the Pahalgam terrorist attack on tourists.
