BJP Ex-MLA From Jammu-Kashmir Gurez Faqir Mohammad Khan Dies By Suicide
Former BJP MLA Faqir Mohammad Khan from Jammu and Kashmir committed suicide by shooting himself in his government bungalow in Srinagar.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Thursday that former MLA from Jammu and Kashmir Gurez Faqir Mohammad Khan allegedly killed himself.
Khan was among the senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP. A two-minute silence was observed in his memory in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Thursday (March 20).

Khan was among the senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP. A two-minute silence was observed in his memory in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Thursday (March 20).
Khan shot himself in the government bungalow allotted to him in Tulsibagh, a high-security area of Srinagar. Official sources said that he was found soaked in blood after allegedly shooting himself with the service rifle of one of his PSOs in quarter number 9A.
Faqir Mohammad Khan Lost By 1049 Votes
In the assembly elections held last year, BJP had given a ticket to Faqir Mohammad Khan from the Gurez seat, but he could not succeed in winning. Here Nazir Ahmed Khan of the National Conference defeated him by a margin of 1049 votes.
The police have started investigating the circumstances of his death. He was immediately taken to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, where doctors on duty declared him dead.
A Look At Life Of Khan
Faqir Mohammad Khan, a resident of Gurez in the Bandipora district of North Kashmir, was a veteran politician. He won the 1996 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as an independent candidate and served as a member of the then Legislative Assembly (MLA).
Faqir Mohammad Khan joined the PDP a few years later and was the regional president of the PDP before resigning from the party after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. He joined the BJP in March 2020.
