Bid To Derail Rajdhani Express, 1 Other Train Foiled In UP's Hardoi

Wooden blocks were placed on the tracks to derail Rajdhani Express and Kathgodam Express in UP's Hardoi. However, the bid was foiled due to loco pilot's alertness.

An attempt to derail two trains, including a Rajdhani Express, was made in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district. However, the attempt was thwarted due to the alertness of the loco pilots, who spotted the obstruction and stopped the trains in time.

The incident took place on Monday evening when unidentified miscreants placed wooden blocks on the tracks tied to earthing wire between Dalelnagar and Umartali stations at kilometre marker 1129/14, news agency PTI reported.

The first attempt to derail was made on the route of a Rajdhani Express (20504), which was on its way to Dibrugarh in Assam from Delhi. The loco pilot spotted the obstruction on the track and applied the emergency brake. He removed it and informed railway officials.

Another attempt was made to derail a Kathgodam Express (15044) using the same method on the same route, soon after Rajdhani Express. This attempt too was averted due to the loco pilot's awareness as he noticed the obstruction and stopped the train on time. He removed the materials placed on the track and continued toward Lucknow, PTI reported.

Superintendent Neeraj Kumar Jadaun visited the site on Monday evening and issued necessary instructions. He confirmed that teams from the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, and local police rsuhed to the spot and have began probing the incidents.

Efforts are ongoing to identify those behind the sabotage attempt. Authorities are examining whether the act was meant to incite fear or linked to a larger conspiracy.

The railways and law enforcement agencies have assured that all steps are being taken to enhance surveillance and prevent recurrence of such incidents. Passengers and citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity near railway infrastructure.
