Bengaluru Teacher Extorts Rs 20 Lakh After Affair With Student's Father, Blackmails With Intimate Pics

The teacher, Sridevi Rudagi, and two others, Ganesh Kale and Sagar, extorted Rs 4 lakh from the victim and then blackmailed him for a further Rs 20 lakh.

A 25-year-old woman teacher has been apprehended for blackmail and extorting money from a student's parent with whom she had been running an affair in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The Central Crime Branch arrested the woman identified as Sridevi Rudagi along with two others, who were identified as Ganesh Kale, 38, and Sagar, 28 - for reportedly extorting Rs 4 lakh from the victim identified as Satish (name changed) and then blackmailing him, with footages of their encounters, for a further Rs 20 lakh.

According to a report by NDTV, the police said Satish, a trader living in a western Bengaluru neighbourhood with his wife and three daughters. He had enrolled his five-year-old daughter in a school in the city in 2023.

During his daughter's admission, he met Rudagi, with whom he remained in touch and began having conversations in messages and video calls on a separate SIM card and phone.

Blackmailing And Extortion

Over time, their interactions became personal. Rudagi later blackmailed the father, extorting Rs 4 lakh from him. In January, she escalated her demands, asking for Rs 15 lakh.

When the father hesitated, she visited his home under the guise of borrowing Rs 50,000.

Later, Satish decided to move his family to Gujarat and required his child's Transfer Certificate as his business faced financial difficulties. This was in early March when the ordeal unfolded.

Upon reaching the school, the father found himself trapped in Rudagi's office, where Kale and Sagar were also present. Sagar showed him private photos and videos, threatening to send them to his family unless he paid Rs 20 lakh.

The father attempted to negotiate, eventually agreeing to pay Rs 15 lakh, starting with an initial transfer of Rs 1.9 lakh. However, the demands persisted.

On March 17, Rudagi called him, reminding him of the payment breakdown—Rs 5 lakh supposedly for a former police officer, Rs 1 lakh each for Sagar and Kale, and Rs 8 lakh for herself.

The father then contacted the police, who confirmed that the officer had no involvement. Rudagi, Sagar, and Kale were subsequently arrested and placed in judicial custody for 14 days.
