Leopard Spotted Strolling In Bengaluru In 2nd Sighting In A Month

A leopard was spotted in Bengaluru's Electronic City on Tuesday. Following this, precautionary checks were conducted in the area but no traces of the wild cat were found.

In an alarming incident, a leopard was spotted early this morning near the Phase-1 toll plaza in Bengaluru's Electronic City. Th wild cat was crossing a flyover near the toll plaza at 3 AM. Following this, the IT hub is on high alert, sending shockwaves among commuters and residents.

The leopard's movement was captured in a CCTV the toll plaza area. The visuals show silhouette of the wild cat as it crosses the road. It eventually ran back in the opposite direction. The leopard is said to have moved from the Panak India Company area to the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) ground, a report by NDTV said.

Precautionary checks were conducted in the area to search for the leopard, but no traces were found.

However, this is not the first incident of leopard-spotting in Bengaluru. Earlier this month, a leopard was spotted near Bengaluru's Jigani area on September 2. The spotting was reported after dogs started barking at it in the morning. The residents then alerted the forest officials about the leopards wandering around the area.

As per officials and cops, it is suspected that the leopard spotted in the Electronic City is the same one that was spotted strolling a few weeks ago in Jigani area.

'No Traces Of The Leopard So Far'

The report quoted the Principal of NTTF, Sunil Joshi, saying: "We got an update from the camera near the toll gate that a leopard had passed near the compound wall. Precautionary checks were conducted on the campus. The forest department officials also came to reconfirm and said that no leopard was seen. A camera image suggested that it moved from the compound wall, so we took the necessary precautions, as this is a training center."

"We have checked all the rooms and the CCTV footage, and there is no trace of this leopard here so far. The leopard was spotted walking near the pathway next to the compound, but we don't know where it went next," he added.

Last year, a leopard was spotted near Bengaluru's Electronic City in October. It was spotted roaming in the city's Whitefield area. Later, the forest department said that the wild cat was spotted in Singasandra near Electronic City, Hindustan Times reported.
